A dream project of CSI Moderator The Most Rev. Thomas K. Oommen Bishop, The Bishop Moore College for the Hearing Impaired, Thazhathumon, Adoor, Managed by the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, affiliated to the Kerala University was started in the year 2014. It is a question mark for the parents of the Deaf Children all over India about what to do after +2. How can hearing impaired children live on their own without depending others for their livelihood, securing an acceptable job in the society. In the olden days children with any of the disabilities were left alone in their house as many of them were from very poor background. But now parents as well as deaf children think high. They are in a dilemma about their future, higher education etc. Our Bishop Moore college stands as an answer for this, just similar to the great saintly missionary, Bishop Moore in whose name our college exists. The primary aim of the institution is taking up of educational and rehabilitation programs necessary for the integration of individuals with challenges. It provides the ideal environment for each one of the blooming students in the hearing impaired community to blossom into fine flowers whose fragrance should spread wherever they go. The college is conducting courses for their professional preparation and higher education.
The Struggles faced by the deaf children and their parents are enormous. We give counselling classes and guidence for students as well as their parents. We give coaching for sign language to make communication easy between the parents and their children.
Many of the former students are employed now in the banking and IT fields through campus interview.
We are providing PSC Coaching for getting them equipped for Government Jobs.
